Lawn signs
One sign changes a street.
A lawn sign isn’t advertising. It’s a neighbour telling the rest of the street that somebody they know has already made up their mind. That travels further than any ad we could buy.

Tell us your address and a good phone number. A volunteer brings the sign, puts it in, and comes back for it after election day. You don’t need to be home, and it costs you nothing.
We’re delivering across Oakville in batches by neighbourhood, so there may be a few days between your request and a sign appearing. If you need it sooner (a street party, a busy corner, an event) say so and we’ll try to work around it.

Before you request
Three things to check.
- It’s your property, or you have permission. If you rent, check with your landlord first. If it’s a condo or a managed property, check with the board or management.
- There’s somewhere to put it. A patch of lawn or soft ground near the sidewalk. Our signs use an H-stake, so they need ground rather than pavement.
- You’re happy for it to stay up until the vote. Signs go up once and come down after 26 October. If you change your mind, call us and we’ll remove it. No awkwardness, no questions.
We place signs only on private property with permission, and only where the Town of Oakville’s sign by-law permits. We remove every sign after election day within the deadline the by-law sets. If a sign of ours is somewhere it shouldn’t be, call 905-973-8213 and we’ll move it.
We deliver
A volunteer installs it, usually within a week, as we work through your neighbourhood.
We take it away
After 26 October we collect every sign. Nothing left behind, nothing for you to deal with.
A few honest answers
Does a lawn sign actually do anything?
On its own, not much. On a street where four neighbours have one, quite a lot. Signs don’t persuade people so much as signal that an election is happening and that people nearby are taking it seriously. In a town where three in four residents stayed home last time, that is most of the battle.
Will putting one up mean I get called constantly?
No. We’ll contact you to arrange delivery and, close to election day, once more to make sure you have what you need to vote. That’s it.
Can I have one at my business?
On private commercial property, with the owner’s permission, yes. Note that a business displaying a sign is not the same as a business contributing to the campaign; corporations can’t contribute to municipal campaigns in Ontario. See the donate page for how the rules work.
